General Information

The overall state of the sphere of academic or scholarly publications in Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro and other countries of the Balkan Peninsula, a sphere that belongs to a largely neglected and unconsolidated category. The absence of similar publications is even more present in more specialized areas. To the knowledge of the Research Institute of Development and European Affairs (RIDEA), there are few, if any, academic journals published in the region with particular interest and specialization in the field of development and European and international affairs. Significantly, given the region’s European aspirations and the demands that flow from the integration processes, it is imperative to publish a journal that provides a forum and platform for concentrated, competent and systematic discussion and analysis of the European integration processes and other related, larger European and international affairs.

Instructions for authors

Aims and Scope

The Journal of European and International Affairs is a peer-reviewed journal, published twice a year. It is committed to publishing cutting-edge, provocative and thoughtful articles on European and international affairs, broadly conceived; in particular as they relate to the themes of domestic and international development, European integration processes, the role of international organizations, and processes that pertain to state and institution-building.

The Journal invites scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and research degree students to submit articles, essays, and book reviews for possible publication. Typically, the Journal publishes articles and essays presented in an international symposium on a topic determined by the Institute. However, the Journal remains open to also consider for publication unsolicited articles, essays, and book reviews. The Journal’s goal is to explore new directions and perspectives that best contribute to the aims of sustainable development, conceived in terms of policies that promote the largest net aggregate of human needs and aspirations in a given context.

Manuscripts and References

In terms of form, article manuscripts are to be submitted with both text and footnotes typed and double-spaced. Footnotes should comply with the Harvard Style of Referencing. In addition to the manuscript, authors should include an accurate abstract of not more than 250 words. Manuscripts are accepted for publication with the understanding that their content is unpublished previously. If any part of an article or essay has already been published, or is to be published elsewhere, the author must inform the Journal at the time of submission. The Journal greatly appreciates all submissions and will attempt to notify authors of acceptance or rejection as quickly as possible.

Submissions

Please send submissions to: ridea.institute@gmail.com with “Manuscript Submission: [TITLE OF ARTICLE]” in the subject heading. We particularly encourage the submission of articles and essays under 15,000 words (including footnotes). These guidelines will be a factor in consideration for publication.
